Entering Patient Information – New Pet

You will need to enter demographic information on any pet that comes in with a new client, as well as any new pet that an existing client may present. Once you enter the information, it will be stored in your Lab Ordering database so that you may access the patient as an existing patient from then on.

To add a new pet to an existing client, first locate the client. Next, click the check box next to New Pet. Enter the patient name, then click or TAB over to enter species, breed and sex information.

To select species, breeds, and sex, click the drop down lists for each item. You can also type the letter that the species, breed or sex begins with, and continue typing the same letter to scroll through options (for example, in the breed field, for canines, typing D repeatedly will display Dachshund, Dalmatian, Doberman, etc.). You can click with your mouse or TAB to navigate between the fields.

The following fields are MANDATORY: Client Name, Pet Name, Species, Breed, Sex and Age. If any of this information is omitted, an error message will be returned when the TRF is submitted.

To add a new pet to a new client, first add the client. Once you have entered the client chart number and name, you can enter the pet name, species, breed, sex and age.

Note: There are FIVE selections in the drop-down list for sex: Male, Female, Castrated Male, Spayed Female, and Unknown. To receive accurately reported results, it is important to choose the most correct of these selections.
