The Antech laboratory systems can only specify AKC recognized breeds. There is an option in the canine species on Zoasis for "Mixed." It is the veterinarian’s discretion to use "Mixed" or "Breed XYZ" for any TRF. Antech recommends that if a veterinarian has a concern about breed-related pathology, the Lab Requisition form should be submitted under the AKC breed (even if the patient is a mix). In most cases, however, this is not an issue, and either "Mixed" or the particular AKC breed can be used.
